14:30 – 15:00 Future Work and Challenges on Alignment
Key highlights of the workshop:
- The momentum on alignment is there, with a growing number of financial institutions committing to align and growing expectations from different stakeholders on the development of methodologies for alignment. This will be the priority of many coalitions and groups of financial institutions in the run up to COP26
- Discussions on the ‘how’ of alignment increasingly recognize the need to look across all of an institution’s activities– as such building on efforts and experience on climate mainstreaming are key
- There is a need for further collaboration on the development of methodologies to assess the alignment of intermediated finance
- The link between climate risk management and alignment approaches need to be further explored, with a distinction between different forms of overlap between alignment approaches and those implemented to manage mitigation/transition risk and adaptation/physical climate risk.
